If you go down to Trinity Leeds today (or any other day over the holidays) you’re in for a ginormous surprise! A life sized trespassing Tyrannosaurus Rex has landed right in the middle of the shopping centre and he’ll be roaring, blinking, lifting his arms and waving his tail to scare and surprise crowds for the next 6 weeks.
At 16 metres long, 8 metres high and weighing over 3-tonne’s the T-Rex is incredibly realistic. In fact it’s the largest animatronic T-Rex in the UK and it’s based as much as possible on the real dinosaur – mimicking it’s sounds and movements too. It was made in China and due to its size, reached the UK in four parts and took 10 hours to assemble on site in the shopping centre. We think it will be well worth it to see how much the children of Leeds love it!!
The animatronic Tyrannosaurus is a collaborative project brought to Leeds thanks to LeedsBID, Trinity Leeds and Child Friendly Leeds. It’s completely free to visit and the public are invited to pop by and snap a selfie from Friday 20th July- Sunday 2nd September 2018. There will also be a dino shop where you can pick up jurassic inspired toys, books and gifts too.
